IH Mod 2.0 and IH SkinPerm are not the only free tools available on the AIHA Web site to help you complete exposure assessments. The additional ones are listed below and are available at this link on the AIHA web site.
• IH Exposure Scenario Tool, which guides evaluation of the workplace, specific scenarios and agents(s), key determinants of exposure and the type of engineering controls.
• Qualitative Exposure Assessment Checklist, which uses: an OEL; the Vapor Pressure of the pure chemical (VP) if in gas or vapor form; the identified workplace controls and the required level of workplace controls. It can be applied in a few minutes using readily available information and has been shown to be more accurate than subjective professional judgments.
• IH Stat An Excel application that calculates a variety of exposure statistics, performs goodness of fit tests, and graphs exposure data.
Last year, I gave a short presentation covering this tools. The link below gives you a PDF of that presentation.
Tom, thanks for your continuing diligence in getting the word out about the freeware available via AIHA. I see the links are working properly here.
Do you know of anyone (Dr. Arnold is obvious selection for me) RETAINING scenarios as a repository for test cases to use in training others on these tools?
Thanks Steve
Hi, Steve. You pose a good question. Unfortunately I am not aware of any example scenarios for the use of these tools, other than the one in the presentation I gave and provide a link to in this post. This would be a great project for a team within the AIHA EASC. Sadly, I have been so far unsuccessful in getting a volunteer to take charge. Several people have agreed a repository of case studies would be very useful and so is a great idea.
